Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu has commended the commitment of law enforcement officials who are out in numbers ensuring safety on the roads, as traffic volumes start to increase.

About 143 people have been killed on the provinces roads since the start of December to January. This represents an increase of 21 cases compared to the same period last year.

Ndlovu led a roadblock on the N4 toll road in Alkmaar, just outside Mbombela. He says motorists are not adhering to traffic laws but says he is pleased to see traffic officers hard at work.
