Ahead of the Hundred 2026 season, Northern Superchargers are officially rebranded as Sunrisers Leeds following their acquisition by the Sun Group. The Sun Group, owners of IPL side Sunrisers Hyderabad SRH, have secured 100 percent ownership of the Northern Superchargers in a record deal valued at Euros 100 million.

The acquisition saw the Sun Group buy out both the ECB's 49 percent stake and Yorkshire County Cricket Club's 51 percent share, making the Superchargers the first franchise in The Hundred to be sold outright. Two other undisclosed bidders were also involved in the auction.

Following the takeover, the franchise has now been officially renamed Sunrisers Leeds, a change that matches the team with the Sun Group's established "Sunrisers" brand. The new company name was submitted to Companies House on October 31, confirming what had long been anticipated after the acquisition. The rebranding also links the Leeds-based franchise to a growing global network that includes Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa's SA20.
