The National Sea Rescue Institute NSRI were kept busy with three separate drowning incidents - two of them fatal - across the Western Cape on Saturday, 29 November, reports Cape town Etc .

According to a statement by NSRI Kleinmond station commander Schalk Boonzaaier, rescue teams were activated just before 1:30pm after a woman at the Palmiet Rest Camp reported that her 51-year-old friend from Wellingtion had gone missing in the Palmiet Lagoon while swimming with friends.

The two friends had lost sight of the missing man while swimming towards the shoreline, said Boonzaaier.
