Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says theres an urgent need to use advanced technology to fight crime.
The recently released fourth quarter crime statistics showed some declines in crime rates.
However, violent crime remains high with the January to March 2025 data showing more than 5 700 people were murdered in the country.
Mchunu briefed the media in Pretoria on his departments latest plans to strengthen its crime-fighting strategies.
"As the South African Police Service SAPS do their work there are critical key aspects that they require support for. We call them enablers in other words they make SAPS more effective and much more efficient," he says.
