As Cape Town continues cleaning up after days of the brutal storm , one of the city's best-known animal rescue organisations has found itself fighting a crisis of its own. TEARS Animal Rescue in Kommetjie has issued an urgent public appeal after strong winds and heavy rain caused major damage to parts of its shelter during the recent storms that battered the Western Cape.
The non-profit organisation, which cares for vulnerable and abandoned animals across the Deep South, shared footage on social media showing the aftermath inside the facility. Torn roofing, broken kennel structures, scattered debris and fallen branches could be seen across the property after the storm system swept through the area.
Despite the destruction, no animals or team members were injured, a major relief for staff and supporters alike.
