Eastern Cape police have fatally shot a suspect, on the R61 in Corhana near Mthatha.
Provincial police spokesperson Nobuntu Gantana says the Police National Intervention Unit NIU acted on intelligence about a suspect in possession of illegal firearms.
It is alleged that NIU members intercepted and tried to stop the vehicle, when the suspect got out and opened fire at the police.
