Mamelodi Sundowns will start their chase of a ninth successive title, while a trio of newcomers will take their first steps when the 2025-26 Betway Premiership gets underway with a full round of eight matches across Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August.
Sundowns, who sealed their eighth title in a row back in May with a win over Chippa United in the Eastern Cape, will open their new campaign with the same fixture on Saturday afternoon, tackling the Chilli Boys at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.
The Brazilians have already made an ominous statement of intent in the MTN8, crushing Richards Bay 4-0 last weekend, and they will look to take that momentum into their clash with Chippa.
Obviously, it was important to start strong. We made two weeks preparations so we knew that taking the game for the last stages, last minutes or even for extra time will never be good for us, coach Miguel Cardoso explained.
But I think the team understands the message, we started very strong, scored and it was important to manage some of the situations we had. Some substitutions that we needed to make, managing so that we can keep the pace congratulations to the players.
