Afrikaans singer and activist Steve Hofmeyr is facing criticism after sharing a series of remarks on X that some have described as divisive.
In the post, Hofmeyr appeared to call on Afrikaners to reclaim what he said is rightfully theirs. He wrote: 'Slowly but surely, we are taking back that which never belonged to you. That which you fed in your orgy of entitlement. Our flags were never yours. Our songs, streets, and city names were never yours, our monuments were never yours.'
He continued by criticising those he accused of disregarding Afrikaner heritage, culture, and values, writing: 'You sold to the world your substandard as norm, with weaklings and criminals as leaders, but the rot has surfaced for all to see.'
