As a result of operational challenges in Chobe National Park, Botswanas Department of Wildlife and National Parks convened a stakeholder meeting in Kasane on August 5. Discussions included traffic congestion, offroading, misconduct and infrastructure strain.
Regional Wildlife Officer Batshani Nduchwa highlighted the reputational damage caused by negative media coverage and called for stronger collaboration between the department and tour operators. A primary concern was congestion along the riverfront route, which calls for re-assessing and legalising viable new routes while enhancing the departments visibility during peak hours, he said.
