Motorsport returns to the heart of Cape Town this October as the Speed Classic Cape Town takes over Philip Kgosana Drive for a two-day invitational spectacle of speed, heritage, and horsepower on 25-26 October 2025, Cape town Etc reports.
Set against one of the world's most iconic backdrops, this brand new event marks the thrilling rebirth of competitive hillclimb racing in the Mother City, a crowd-pleasing pre- and post-war tradition that started in 1912 and saw competitors showing off their cars and skills on Camps Bay Drive, Signal Hill Road and Kloof Road. The last Camps Bay hillclimb was reportedly held in 1962.

Backed by Motorsport South Africa and the City of Cape Town, Speed Classic Cape Town revives the passion of the past with a modern, dynamic twist, blending high-performance motoring with curated lifestyle experiences in an open and electric atmosphere that invites all Capetonians to feel the thrill.
