A motorist, later accused of being intoxicated, crashed his vehicle into a ditch in KwaZulu-Natal before allegedly fleeing from the scene on foot.
The single-car accident occurred just before 11am on Thursday in Hazelmere, KZN, on New Glasgow Road.
Members of Reaction Unit SA Rusa were returning from an unrelated operation when they came across the scene soon after the accident had taken place, according to a statement.
