The Special Investigating Unit SIU has returned R1.7 billion to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme NSFAS.
The SIU says more than R120 million was recovered from parents of unqualified beneficiaries.
NSFAS has urged parents whose children have received funding but do not qualify, to contact the SIU to make arrangements as the investigations are continuing.
