showmax announces price increases in south africa

Streaming platform Showmax has announced prices increases in South Africa for all plans except Entertainment all devices, which remains R99 per month.

The adjustments will take effect on 1 May 2025, Showmax said in an email to subscribers on Tuesday 15 April.

Showmax price hikes for 2025

We're making some changes to our pricing from 1 May 2025. Showmax Entertainment stays at R99 - it's been that way for 10 years, and we're keeping it that way, the African streamer said.

The Premier League plan will rise from R69 to R99 per month. However, it now includes the Premier Soccer League PSL as a permanent feature.

The Entertainment Mobile plan sees a small hike from R45 to R50, while Entertainment Mobile bundled with Premier League will cost R120, up from the previous R99.

Entertainment all devices bundled with Premier League, which Showmax says is the best value for money, also goes up from R140 to R150.

These updates help us continue investing in the best streaming experience, top international and local productions, and world-class sport coverage, the popular streaming service said.

While DStv has notified subscribers of nominal price increases on account of the expected value added tax VAT increase from 1 May, Showmax subscribers will be spared.

Capitec Bank account holders save 50 percent when they subscribe to Showmax through the Capitec banking app. MTN customers can also get great deals that bundle entertainment and data.

DStv customers also benefit from discounts depending on their respective packages when they add Showmax to their DStv bill.
