Mayibuye Consultation Process leader Floyd Shivambu says he has accepted uMkhonto weSizwe MK Partys decision to terminate his membership and expel him - but vows that they will meet on the ground.
MK Party made the announcement at a media briefing on Friday 8 August, citing Shivambus utterances since his removal as Secretary-General in June.
The leadership of MK Party considered these utterances and arrived at a conclusion that the former Secretary-General had not only publicly defined himself outside the ranks and ideological lines of the MK Party, but also seriously violated the trust placed on him as a member of the party, the partys National Chairperson Nkosinathi Nhleko said.
In this regard, a decision has been taken to summarily terminate the membership of the former Secretary-General, and a formal letter of expulsion was transmitted to him on the 15th of July 2025.
Shivambu reacts to MK Party expulsionIn a statement posted on X shortly afterwards, Shivambu said his acceptance of his expulsion is unequivocal and final.
I will not appeal the decision, as I respect the processes and structures of the organisation that I once served as National Organiser and Secretary-General, he added.
He praised the dedicated comrades and fellow leaders he worked with in MK Party and thanked them for their support.
Your contributions have been invaluable, and I carry the lessons from our collective efforts forward with profound appreciation, he said.
The roles entrusted to me during this period - ranging from strategic oversight to grassroots mobilisation - have incrementally strengthened my leadership focus and determination.
The membership termination will give him time and space to focus on the Mayibuye Consultation Process and Afrika Mayibuye Movement, he added.
