Political Analyst Levi Ndou says the fact that the former uMkhonto weSizwe Party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu will be briefing the media outside the party could be signaling his departure .
The MK Party has says it did not sanction the media briefing which is set to take place today.
Shivambu was removed as the partys secretary-general last month and was subsequently deployed to parliament.
During the partys Youth Day commemorations in Durban on Monday, party leader and former president Jacob Zuma informed MK Party members that it would not tolerate indiscipline among high ranking party members.
Ndou says Shivambu has a lot of options: "He might decide to join a new political party. He might decide to form a political party. He might also decide to become an influential civil servant outside the structures of political parties. He might decide to also join the workers movement or organise people who are in the workforce."
