Seriti Green has committed an additional R10 billion to renewable energy projects in Mpumalanga, taking its total planned investment in the province to R25 billion as it advances a multi-phase wind and solar pipeline aimed at supplying large-scale industrial demand.
The investment is linked to the development of the Ummbila Emoyeni renewable energy cluster, which will combine wind and solar generation with battery storage for a total planned capacity of approximately 900 MW. The first phase, estimated at around 155 MW, is expected to reach commercial operation in 2026.
The projects are being developed primarily to supply electricity to Seriti Resources mining operations, positioning the initiative within the growing trend of large industrial users procuring power through dedicated renewable generation rather than relying solely on the national grid.
