Cape Town City have officially secured the signing of former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Thulani Serero, marking his long-awaited return to South African football.
The 34-year-old ex-Bafana Bafana playmaker, who has 41 appearances for the senior national team, returns home after more than a decade abroad, having featured for Ajax Amsterdam, Vitesse Arnhem, Al-Jazira and Khor Fakkan.
During his time in Europe and the Middle East, Serero collected an impressive haul of silverware, including three Eredivisie titles, a Dutch Super Cup, the UAE Cup and the UAE Super Cup.
Affectionately known as Cream, Serero joins City as a free agent more than a year after leaving Khor Fakkan.
The club confirmed his signing on Thursday, with a statement reading: Cape Town City Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Thulani Serero, marking his monumental return to South Africas top flight. Welcome home, Cream.
