Chippa United head coach Thabo September has revealed he erred by pushing Stanley Nwabali to play against TS Galaxy when he was not in the right frame of mind.

The Nigeria international asked to sit out the Betway Premiership clash at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday as he was still dealing with the tragic loss of both of his parents.

Nwabalis father passed away in November, three days before the Super Eagles were due to face Rwanda in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and the goalkeeper was granted compassionate leave to attend the funeral.

The 28-year-old suffered more heartbreak on New Years Day with the passing of his mother and he recently admitted to having a difficult time in coping with the situation.

Nwabali requested to be rested for the trip to Mpumalanga, but September urged him to feature in goal and has now acknowledged it was the wrong decision after the Chilli Boys first-choice shot-stopper gifted Damir Sovsic the winner in the 80th minute which saw the Rockets run out 1-0 victors.
