seplat begins anoh gas production weeks after tony elumelus heirs energies takes 500 million stake

Weeks after Nigerian businessman Tony Elumelus Heirs Energies acquired a 500 million stake in Seplat Energy , the company co-founded by Austin Avuru has started delivering gas from its ANOH project. The milestone follows regulatory approvals and the completion of an 11-kilometer export pipeline, marking a significant expansion in Nigerias energy production.

The project began supplying gas to Indoramas petrochemical plant after Seplat secured approval from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission on Jan. 16, 2026, and brought four upstream wells online that had been idle since November.

Since start-up, wet gas output has stabilized between 40 million and 52 million standard cubic feet per day, with condensate at about 2,000 to 2,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Output is expected to rise toward the plants 300 million cubic feet-per-day capacity, and Seplat plans to supply processed gas to Nigeria LNG under an interruptible arrangement.
