Forty-five drunk drivers have been arrested in the City of Tshwane over the past weekend. The Tshwane Metro Police Department says it is making strides in the fight against drunk driving.
Of those arrested, five were caught in Mamelodi, one in Pretoria West, 10 in Winternest, and seven in Mabopane.
The rest were nabbed in other parts of the city.
TMPD Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba elaborates, says, "The Tshwane Metro Police Department's ongoing drunk driving operations are yielded great results. They were conducted mainly to reduce road fatalities and to promote education and awareness regarding the dangers of driving while intoxicated, especially to the youth. The TMPD promotes a zero-tolerance approach to driving while intoxicated."
