A cut-off low pressure system is forecast to sweep across the central and southern parts of South Africa on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, bringing cold, wet and windy conditions, with localised flooding possible across the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, reports Cape town Etc .
What Cape residents can expect
The slow-moving system is expected to hit the eastern parts of the Western Cape hardest, with the Garden Route, Overberg, Central Karoo and Little Karoo all in the firing line. Sustained heavy rainfall , strong winds and significantly colder temperatures are forecast, with snowfall possible over high-lying areas.
