Motorists travelling into or out of South Africa in foreign-registered vehicles will soon face a new border requirement that could affect everything from family visits to business travel.
From 1 June 2026, the South African Revenue Service will require every foreign-registered vehicle to be declared online before crossing the country's borders, whether entering or leaving, as per BusinessTech .
The move marks one of the most significant customs changes for regular cross-border travellers in recent years, especially for those moving frequently between neighbouring countries for work, study or trade.
