Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia says the deployment of the South African Police Service SAPS members, during expected protests on Tuesday, is not aimed at preventing lawful demonstrations.
Cachalia was speaking at a police parade in KwaZulu-Natal, ahead of the June 30th operational deployment.
The public will judge not only the outcome of Tuesdays operations, but also the manner in which you conduct yourselves, and exercise your responsibility and your authority. Your responsibility is not to bully it is to protect. Your professionalism has the power to build confidence in policing and to demonstrate that the rule of law remains the cornerstone of our democracy, says Cachalia.
