The South African Post Office SA Post Office says it will continue to deliver documents, letters and exempted mail such as the one from the military to the US.
On Friday, it announced the suspension of all outbound parcel services to the US.
This follows new tariffs that President Donald Trump has imposed on imports from many countries including South Africa.
