The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport says the National Road Traffic Management Corporation will conduct a thorough probe into last nights crash on the N2 at Umzumbe.
Five people, believed to be members of the same family, died instantly when their light motor vehicle collided head-on with a seven-seater minibus.
Four other occupants in the two vehicles were injured.
