Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has accepted responsibility for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez's mistakes, emphasising that he is "accountable" for the Spaniard's performance following the Blues' 3-2 home defeat to Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

Sanchez faced criticism after conceding Arsenal's first two goals at Stamford Bridge, with Rosenior noting that Chelsea were also hampered by injuries and illness within the squad. In the seventh minute, Sanchez failed to deal with Declan Rice's corner, allowing Ben White to score, and later could not hold a cross from White, enabling Viktor Gyokeres to convert from close range in the 49th minute. Martin Zubimendi added a third for Arsenal, but substitute Alejandro Garnacho scored twice to keep Chelsea in contention for the second leg.

Speaking after his first home match in charge, Rosenior explained that Sanchez is still adapting to a new tactical system under his management.
