Real Betis confirmed Friday that Spanish winger Rodrigo Riquelme had agreed to a deal that would keep him with the team until 2030.
"Atletico Madrid and Real Betis have finalised the transfer of Rodrigo Riquelme," Atletico stated, though the exact transfer fee was not disclosed.
Reports suggest the deal was worth around eight million euros 9.4 million for half of Riquelme's rights, with Atletico retaining the remaining 50 per cent.
The 25-year-old will take over from 19-year-old Jesus Rodriguez, who recently moved to the Italian side, Como, for a reported 25 million euros 29.4 million.
Riquelme developed through Atletico's youth academy and gained experience on loan at Bournemouth and Mirandes before making a breakthrough season at Girona in 2022-23. He made his senior debut for Spain in November 2023 and has earned two international caps.
