estevao ready for premier league move says palmeiras boss

Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira believes teenage sensation Estevao Willian is ready to make the jump to Premier League football after bidding farewell to the Brazilian side with a memorable performance against Chelsea in the Club World Cup.

The 18-year-old, widely regarded as one of Brazil's most exciting young talents, marked his final appearance for Palmeiras by scoring a stunning equaliser in Friday's quarter-final clash in Philadelphia. Despite his efforts, Chelsea edged the contest 2-1 thanks to a late own-goal, but Estevao's impact was undeniable.

Having agreed to join Chelsea over a year ago in a deal reportedly worth 57 million 48.3m, including bonuses, Estevao will now complete his long-awaited move to Stamford Bridge.

Ferreira was full of praise for the youngster, comparing him to family. "I don't have sons, only daughters, but he is like a son to me," the Portuguese coach said at Lincoln Financial Field. "I spoke to Enzo Maresca before the match and told him they've not only signed an amazing player but also a wonderful person."

He continued: "Estevao is a player with rare quality-someone who can decide games on his own. Of course, at the beginning he will make mistakes, but with the right support, he'll flourish. Chelsea must take care of him and help him grow."
