Rand Waters planned maintenance in Gauteng is set to start tomorrow and end on Tuesday next week. It will result in low water pressure and temporary water outages in some parts of Johannesburg, Pretoria and Ekurhuleni.

The water utility says that after Gauteng, it will move to other provinces until it completes the planned maintenance at the end of July.

Rand Water CEO Sipho Mosai explains how long the system will take to recover after maintenance: As soon as we start closing off, the system will still need to drain and even after we announce that we completed our maintenance work, some households and municipalities will take time to recover. If we finish early in July, the month of July, we will dedicate it to recovery. I dont mean the whole month. But we believe the full recovery will come just in time for the August high demand period.
