The Western Cape Government has announced a significant investment of R67 million in the restoration and fortification of Paarl Hospital following a devastating fire that occurred on January 27, Cape town Etc reports.

Confirmed by the Western Cape Minister of Finance, Deidre Baartman, during the recent tabling of the Provincial Budget, this funding aims not only to repair damage caused by the suspected arson but also to enhance the hospital's capacity to serve the growing Drakenstein community.

In the aftermath of the fire, which resulted in the evacuation of patients and staff, no injuries were reported, but the blaze left its mark on the Outpatient Department OPD. Immediate evacuation procedures were successfully executed, and firefighters quickly contained the flames, limiting further damage.
