Western Cape Police have seized 880 illegal firearms since April 1 this year, including seven assault rifles confiscated in the past week alone, as law enforcement intensifies operations against gang and taxi-related violence in the province.
According to a report from SmileFM , the recovered weapons include four AK-47s seized in Cape Town this week, two Uzis and one other assault rifle as part of a broader crime prevention effort that has resulted in more than 55,000 suspects arrested for various crimes since April.
The seizures come following ongoing violence that has affected several communities in the province.
