An early-morning commute turned fatal in Woodstock on Tuesday after a pedestrian lost his life in a collision involving a Golden Arrow Bus, prompting a culpable homicide investigation by police.

The incident unfolded shortly after 5:25am along Victoria Road, directly opposite the Salt River fire station, where a bus travelling the Nyanga to Cape Town route struck a man believed to be in his 50s. The bus was transporting passengers at the time of the crash.

According to the Daily Voice , the man is alleged to have stepped into the roadway in front of the oncoming vehicle, leaving the driver with no opportunity to avoid impact. Emergency services declared the pedestrian dead at the scene.
