Eskom in the Eastern Cape has reported that inclement weather conditions in the province have resulted in the destruction of the power utilitys infrastructure in most parts of the province, leaving some communities without electricity.
Assessments from various accessible sites show broken poles and wires on medium and low voltage lines, while more damages are anticipated pending further assessments.
Heavy rainfall and winds that hit the province left five district municipalities and one metro recording overwhelming destruction including OR Tambo District Municipality and Buffalo City Metro.
