President Cyril Ramaphosa says, more than 500 homes have been damaged in the Nkomazi municipality of Mpumalanga. This after torrential rain struck the province in recent days.
Ramaphosa visited the area to assess the destruction, with an estimate of more than 1 300 houses being damaged across the province. This comes as, Disaster Management authorities continue to count the cost, while closely monitoring flood-affected areas across the country, with persistent heavy rainfall still wreaking havoc in several provinces.Emergency teams in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal remain on high alert. At least 31 people have lost their lives.
Families have been displaced from their homes. This as roads and bridges washed away , and critical infrastructure being severely damaged, leaving some communities cut off and without basic services.
