Nigerian televangelist Timothy Omotoso is expected to leave South Africa shortly, marking what may be the final chapter in a legal saga that has spanned nearly a decade.

This comes after he voluntarily opted to be deported following his re-arrest on May 10 by immigration authorities in East London.

The Department of Home Affairs declared him a prohibited person, arguing that his continued presence in the country was unlawful.

On the 2nd of April this year, Omotoso was acquitted of 32 serious charges by the Gqeberha High Court.

The founder of the Jesus Dominion International church, based in Durban, was arrested back in 2017. He faced more than 90 charges, including rape, human trafficking, and racketeering.
