The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal is confident that the government of provincial unity GPU will remain in place despite the National Freedom Partys NFP withdrawal.
This is because opposition parties do not have the required majority of 41 seats to pass a motion of no confidence in Premier Thami Ntuli, ANC KZN Coordinator Mike Mabuyakhulu said in a statement on Wednesday 7 January.
It emerged on Wednesday that NFP had resolved to withdraw from the GPU. In a letter on Tuesday, it instructed its deployee, Social Development MEC Mbali Shinga, to resign by 09:00 on Thursday.
