Wilfred Ndidi is close to joining Besiktas, as personal talks are ongoing to bring the Nigerian player to join former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjr.
Softfootball understands that a full agreement between Ndidi and Besiktas is almost in place, with only final details related to his Leicester City exit still to be resolved.
Fabrizio Romano shared on his X handle of the Turkish club is interested in Ndidi, who is also seeking to remain playing top-flight football.
Fabrizio wrote on his X handle as follows:
The 28-year-old has since been open to a new challenge following the Foxes' promotion back to the Premier League.
Besiktas' interest in the midfielder dates back to early July, and discussions have accelerated in recent days as the club looks to strengthen ahead of the new Super Lig campaign. Softfootball reported that B esiktas sent an official bid last weekend, as they await a response from Ndidi.
Ndidi joined Leicester from Genk in January 2017 and has made over 250 appearances for the club. He was a key figure during their 2021 FA Cup triumph and remained an important presence in Leicesters Championship win under Enzo Maresca.
While his defensive attributes have long drawn interest from top clubs, recent seasons have seen Ndidi used in more advanced midfield roles. That versatility is seen as a key asset by Besiktas, who are rebuilding under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Should the deal be finalised, Ndidi will join a growing number of Nigerian internationals in the Turkish top flight. He is expected to undergo a medical in Istanbul once the final steps with Leicester are completed.
