Workers at Mafube Local Municipality in the Free State are calling for national government to take over the administration of the municipality.
Municipal workers affiliated to South African Municipal Workers Union SAMWU and Independent Municipal Allied Trade Union IMATU have again downed tools over unpaid salaries, and non-payment of third parties.
In January last year, the Free State High Court ordered Mafube to pay the Municipal Workers Retirement fund R14 million plus interest.
