The Independent Electoral Commission IEC says the outstanding wards in four KwaZulu-Natal municipalities due to litigation will not affect next years local government elections.
This follows the Municipal Demarcation Boards handover of the final ward boundaries to the commission this week. Over 4 400 municipal wards are expected to participate in the elections.
The commissions provincial head of elections, Ntombifuthi Masinga says, The remaining 5 of the wards shouldnt really impact because we are going to get going immediately as the electoral commission to align our voting districts to the new ward boundaries.
