Mpumalanga Residents Warned Against Tampering With Transnet Fuel Pipe

The Hawks in Mpumalanga have warned residents of the Gert Sibande District against tampering with Transnets fuel pipe. This follows the Evander Magistrates Courts conviction of a man for stealing fuel in Lesile.

Harold Mabunda and his co-accused Bongani Mzizi, who is already serving a seven-year prison sentence were found with 40 000 litres of fuel estimated to the value of over R1 million was loaded in a tanker in February 2023.

Provincial Hawks spokesperson Magonseni Nkosi says, We arrested both suspects then and one of them pleaded guilty three years ago and sentenced to seven years in prison. The driver, Mr Harold Mabnda maintained his innocence and later we managed to further our investigation and managed to prove some points before court hence he was also convicted yesterday and he is expected to be sentenced on the 28th of January.
