Morocco have escalated the fallout from the chaotic AFCON 2025 final, announcing their intention to take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS in Switzerland if both CAF and FIFA fail to rule in their favour.
According to the Moroccan Football Federation, they have been advised by some stakeholders to allow the issue to die down. However, Morocco are insisting that they were unfairly treated and believe they should be awarded the AFCON trophy, following the controversial events that unfolded during the final against Senegal.
The final was marred by tension after Senegal briefly refused to continue the match following a late penalty decision awarded to Morocco. Although play eventually resumed-after intervention led by Sadio Mane. Morocco missed the penalty, and Senegal went on to secure a dramatic 1-0 victory .
