more than 200 women empowered through city initiative

For hundreds of women across Cape Town, the City's Women with Purpose Programme has become more than a short-term work opportunity, it has evolved into a pathway toward leadership, skills development and stronger community support networks.

The initiative, run by the City of Cape Town through its Community, Arts and Culture Development Department, has empowered more than 202 women during the current financial year, with participants drawn largely from low-income households across the metro.

Previously known as Women for Change, the programme forms part of the City's broader social intervention strategy aimed at addressing some of the root causes linked to crime, gangsterism and gender-based violence in vulnerable communities.
