Holiday Inn Express is testing scent-based alarm clocks in hotels in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Thailand and Singapore, in a bid to improve guests mornings.
The alarm clock offers a choice of wake-up aromas, ranging from coffee, bacon, and blueberry muffin in New Zealand and Australia to nashi pear in Japan and mango in Singapore and Thailand.
According to Holiday Inn Express, guests will be awakened by the smell rather than the traditional sounds of an alarm clock. The idea is to remind guests about the free breakfast on offer at all Holiday Inn Express properties.
