Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena highlighted the pride that he felt for his team as they emerged big winners at the Inaugural Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Awards on Thursday evening.

Thapelo Maseko won the award for the Mens Most Promising Player and Ronwen Williams was named the Mens Goalkeeper of the Year. Mokwena gave massive credit to the players and said it was well deserved.

Beyond what you see with the level of football and the quality, they are great human beings and what I like is that good people win, and Im very happy to see them win, he told Backpage News.

The coach also highlighted the positive rewards that the COSAFA institution has brought to the game of football in the Southern African area.

Its amazing, great work has been done and congratulations to COSAFA for the work that they are doing in the SADC region for football, he said.

Mokwena walked away with an award himself, as he was named the Mens Coach of the Year. In his acceptance speech, he thanked the club and the Motsepe family for the incredible support they have given him.

At the end of the evening, Sundowns were the talking point of the night as the womens team custodian Andile Dlamini also won the award for the Womens Goalkeeper of the Year.
