Miracle In The Mud: Child Survives Deadly Umlazi Mudslide As Families Left Homeless

Cape Town - The Umlazi community is in shock after a mudslide destroyed two homes in P Section, leaving at least six people hospitalised and seven others homeless, a report said on Saturday.

One person was initially believed to have died in the incident, but it was later determined that the death was unrelated to the mudslide .

Relief efforts are underway, with survivors being temporarily accommodated in a hotel in central Durban, IOL reported.

Among the survivors is a child who miraculously survived being buried in the mud.

"A child was buried alive but survived through the grace of God," the report quoted KZN Transport and Human Settlements spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya as saying.
