The 48th ordinary session of the African Union AU executive council will take place this week. The annual gathering will be held in the Ethiopian capital city Addis Ababa from Wednesday.
South Africa is expected to be represented by International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola.
The African Unions executive council will focus on a number of critical issues facing the African continent. They will look at AUs participation in the G20 in the United States, consider the report of the 51st ordinary session of the permanent representatives committee and conduct elections and appointments to AU organs and institutions.
