Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has demanded a detailed report from the South African Football Association SAFA on the fielding of Teboho Mokoena in Bafana Bafanas FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier match against Lesotho in March this year.
Mokoena picked up two yellow cards in prior Group C qualifiers and should not have been fielded.
In September, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee docked Bafana three points for the error. It converted the teams 2-0 win against Lesotho to a 3-0 loss. Bafana managed to overcome this setback to qualify for the World Cup earlier this week.
