The Ministry of Digital Transformation, Innovation, and Administration Modernization MTNIMA has taken a major step toward advancing digital governance by initiating preparations for a national blockchain policy. The Ministry hosted a consultative forum at its headquarters, in partnership with the UN Economic and Social Committee for West Asia ESCWA, bringing together experts and stakeholders from government, financial, and academic sectors.

The proposed policy aims to harness blockchain technology to enhance transparency, reliability, and efficiency in public services through secure and tamper-proof digital records. It is designed to protect citizens' rights, fight corruption, reduce disputes, and attract both national and international investment in fintech and digital innovation.

The Ministry anticipates that implementing the policy will directly improve citizens' daily lives by accelerating administrative procedures, reducing costs, and raising the quality of essential services such as property registration, commercial records, public contracts, and natural resource tracking. This approach also seeks to strengthen the competitiveness of Mauritania's economy while reinforcing digital sovereignty.
