The Pretoria High Court has postponed former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula's corruption case to 21 November, granting her legal team more time to review a voluminous docket and gather crucial bank records.

Per TimesLive reports, Mapisa-Nqakula faces 12 counts of corruption and one of money laundering, linked to R4.5 million in alleged bribes during her tenure as Defence Minister. SABC captured her emotional breakdown in court as her lawyers argued they needed six more weeks to prepare.

It comes after defense lawyers received 26 files of evidence only last week. Advocate Graham Kerr-Phillips confirmed they must subpoena financial records, as reported by the SABC. The defense may make representations to the NPA to reconsider charges.
