Middlesbrough are closing in on a loan move for Manchester City youngster Sverre Nypan . The 18-year-old midfielder joined the Citizens in a 12.5 million deal from Rosenborg .
Man City confirmed Nypans arrival last month after they fended off rival interest from a number of clubs, including Arsenal and Aston Villa. The Norwegian put pen to paper on a five-year contract after the Sky Blues agreed a reported 12.5m deal with Rosenborg .
Softfootball understood that Boro also scouted Nypan last season but, given the high profile interest from the Premier League and major European clubs, realised it wasnt going to be possible to sign the midfielder.
